Audrey Ryan is an indie singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for her innovative one-woman-band performances and genre-blending style. Based in Boston and hailing from Downeast Maine, she combines elements of folk, rock, and experimental pop, often using looping pedals and a variety of instruments including guitar, accordion, and vibraphone. Lunch Mother is her band that performs at the Loft as the house band and out and about when the spirit moves them. She has released multiple albums, toured internationally, and is also the author of The Need to Be Heard, a book exploring the challenges faced by independent musicians. The Cipelahq Ehpicik, also known as the Thunderbird Women, are a powerful group of Wabanaki women singers made up of more than twenty members, ranging in age from early teens to grandmothers in their early seventies. They drum and sing for the people as a form of healing and as a way to remain connected to their ancestors. Barbara Paul, the group’s lead, explains, “The drum is the heartbeat of our people.” Through sharing their songs, chants, and teachings, the Cipelahq Ehpicik help educate the public and demonstrate that Wabanaki culture remains strong and vibrant. They wear traditional skirts adorned with colorful ribbons and fabrics. The Thunderbird Women have drummed outside the homes of those who are sick or dying and have also provided songs and drumming at funerals, offering comfort and support to the community.e Passamaquoddy Tribe.

The Crows began approximately 15yrs ago as "3 Ravens" and expanded to a quintet a few years ago. Their repertoire includes multi-ethnic, oldies rock, pop (notably a recent Beatles project), and improvisation, emphasizing an array of instruments and unique harmony vocals. Current band members: Brendon Sohre, Tone Moser, Gene Nichols, Gary Bushee & Duane Ingalls (Present yet in spirit, co-founder Gordon Phillips flew away in the early 2020s).

From the northern reach of the Appalachian Trail comes the musical trio Darlin’ Corey. Drawing on the many threads of North American folk music, their elegant harmonies are the beating heart of their sound, in both their original music and the traditional Folk, Old Time, and Bluegrass music they regularly showcase. In Darlin’ Corey’s singing and playing, you can feel the many years of dedication to these celebrated musical traditions.    Erica Brown’s fiddle-playing is at turns virtuosic and completely unpretentious. Matt Shipman is an ideal counterpart as his versatility on a dizzying array of stringed instruments (guitar, Irish bouzouki, 5-string banjo, mandolin) blend seamlessly, never timid or overpowering. Add to that Kris Day’s steady and tasteful bass playing and together they create an engaging performance of thoughtful originals and traditional songs and tunes that have influenced them along the way. Darlin’ Corey has become a well known and favorite act in the Portland, ME area in recent years.
