About the performers
Kate and Zach have been performing music together since they met at an open mic in 2013. Kate is a classically trained singer, songwriter, and educator with musical inspirations ranging from Ani DiFranco to Billie Holiday to Etta James. Zach is a pianist, saxophonist, composer, and educator who started playing classical piano at the age of 4 and fell in love with jazz and improvisation music through playing the saxophone in high school jazz band.
Together, their repertoire includes original compositions, jazz standards, and unique covers of popular songs. In 2019 they recorded an album with a 7 piece funk band, Kate & the Nouveau Groove, featuring original compositions and select covers and can be found on all streaming platforms.
